The Shakespeare Experience

The Royal Shakespeare Theatre

This unique experience, designed for educational groups visiting Stratford upon Avon, offers special opportunities to learn and enjoy more about Shakespeare's life and work, and to explore his Stratford background. 

Every Shakespeare Experience is tailor made to suit each individual group. Itineraries are arranged to suit your schedule – one day, one or two nights or even longer. Groups of any number, age and study level are welcomed.

A typical Shakespeare Experience includes:

Theatre tickets 

A visit to Stratford upon Avon is not complete without seeing one of Shakespeare's plays at one of the town's famous theatres.  Usually a visit would include an Upper Circle or 'Schools best available' priced seat.  Higher price tickets can of course also be arranged if required.

Town tour

Tours are conducted by our own fully trained guides, who will bring to life the full Shakespeare story. The tour will pass the main places of interest such as the Royal Shakespeare Theatres, Guild Chapel, Holy Trinity Church, Harvard House and will usually include entrances into some of the Shakespeare houses.

Drama workshop

The workshops are arranged by the Drama Pool, a group of actors and professional theatre people. The workshop can either be general drama based (such as mime, movement, improvisation etc.) or can be based on a specific text.

Accommodation is usually arranged in conveniently situated town centre guest houses or in Stratford Youth Hostel if the group prefer. A full breakfast is included. Alternatively accommodation can be arranged in a variety of 3 or 4 star hotels if preferred. Please ask for this to be included in your quote.

Evening meals

Evening meals are usually pre-theatre and a variety of restaurants are available. Alternatively, dinner can be taken at the guest house or youth hostel.

Additional services

In addition to all of the above activities coach transfers can be arranged to collect and return you to your school or from most airports and train stations. 

For longer visits, additional activities such as boat trips and visits to Warwick Castle can be arranged.

Guideline costs:

Approximately £95.00 + VAT per person for a 1 night visit; £149.00 + VAT per person for a 2 night visit (to include an extra night's accommodation, pre theatre meal and theatre ticket) 

Above costs to include:

• Accommodation in local guest house, including full breakfast

• Pre theatre evening meal

• Drama workshop, including hire of a suitable venue

• Local guide for tour of Stratford

• Coach for tour of Stratford

• Entrance into 3 Shakespeare Houses

• Theatre ticket ('best available' or Upper Circle seat, subject to availability)

Please note that the above costings are based on a minimum of 20 people and are a guideline only.  For every 20 paying people, an additional person travels free of charge. As each itinerary is tailored to suit your exact requirements, please call for an accurate costing for your party.
